
A District Level Dalit Leaders' Meeting at Rajbiraj, Saptari.

A district level Dalit leaders meeting on 26 Shrawan 2081, Saturday at Rajbiraj Saptari, organized by Joint Political Dalit Action Committe, in association with Dalit sarokar Manch Nepal.
The gathering has reconstituted a 41-member Joint Political Dalit Action Committe under the coordination of Bhuvneshwar Safi. Nilam Kumari Rajak, Minister of Energy, Irrigation and Water Supply of Madhesh State Government and Ranju Kumari Khang, Minister of State for Forest and Environment were honored in the program. Speaking at the event, Ministers Rajak and Khang promised to take initiatives for the implementation of the Dalit Empowerment Act. "If Dalit communities unite and support us, we will raise the voice of Dalits in the state assembly and government." State Minister Rajak, who was also the chief guest of the program, said, "I will take the initiative to build a facility-equipped building in Rajviraj for Dalits."
Bhola Paswan, executive director of Dalit Sarokar Manch Nepal, said that there is a need for a joint Dalit political committee because Dalits are under-represented in the three-level government, Dalits' constitutional rights have not been implemented, there has been no reduction in the incidents of harassment against Dalits and Dalits have been ignored even by the police administration. Director Paswan said that the time has come for Dalits to unite and raise awareness as there is a risk of curtailment of their constitutional rights.
In the program, Maoist leaders Chedi Rajak and Siyaram Pasman, Ward Chairman of Kanchanrup 4, Jogendra Pasman, Ward Chairperson of Bodebarsain 2, Ram Prasad Ram and Kapaleshwar Sardar, Mohini Safi Manoj Mehtar and other speakers told that Dalits have no choice but to unite for the implementation of Dalit rights. Rajendra Bishwakarma, co-coordinator of Dalit community's executive member network, conducted the program under the chairmanship of Pratham Lal Ram.
